KEITH MICHEL TO RETIRE AFTER 40 YEARS

(Alameda, CA)  After 40 years at Herbert Engineering and an amazing career as a naval architect, ship designer, innovator, President of SNAME, and business leader, R. Keith Michel has announced his retirement from HEC.   He will also be resigning his post as Chairman of the Board of Herbert Engineering as of February 26, 2013.

The leadership transition at HEC will be seamless as Spencer Schilling has been President since 2006 and is supported by a strong management team and a Board of Directors with a long history at HEC.  We are looking forward to continuing the industry support and innovation embodied in the example set by Keith.

There will be no rest for Keith, however, as he takes up the helm at Webb Institute as its President, starting in July 2013.  A new and exciting career just getting started !
