Naval Architect – Alameda, CA

We are seeking a talented and motivated Naval Architect to join our team in providing high-quality ship design and engineering services for large commercial vessels. This position offers the opportunity to work on challenging and impactful projects that optimize safety, efficiency, and environmental performance.

Key Responsibilities

·       Lead and manage engineering projects, including ship design and technical consulting

·       Perform naval architecture analyses (stability, structural, and hydrodynamics)

·       Apply knowledge of regulatory frameworks (USCG, ABS, etc.)

·       Travel as needed for ship surveys, construction inspections, engine room scans, and inclining tests

·       Interface with clients and present design concepts, findings, and recommendations

·       Contribute to high-quality technical documentation and reports

·       Maintain project schedules and deliver work on time and within scope

Required Qualifications

·       B.S. in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, or a related field

·       5–10 years of professional experience in ship design and analysis

·       Strong understanding of both practical engineering and advanced analysis techniques

·       Proficient in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD 2D

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·       U.S. Citizen or valid Green Card holder (due to ITAR-related work)

Preferred Qualifications

·       Experience with HECSALV

·       Familiarity with programming (VB, C++, .NET, Python)

·       Knowledge of USCG and ABS classification society rules

·       Background in energy efficiency and low/zero-carbon power systems

·       Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines

This is a full-time position based in our Alameda, California office. You’ll work in a collaborative environment with a dedicated team, with occasional travel for project-related site work.
